Joseph Sears School in Kenilworth is located at 542 Abbotsford Road. Sears School is popular with parents because it encompasses kindergarten through eighth grade. It's the only public school in the North Shore area like this. The junior high portion is located in the rear part of the school.

The school is also just a few blocks south of New Trier High School. For advanced students who take AP classes, it's an easy walk.

All children who live in Kenilworth attend Joseph Sears School, but there is also a small sliver of Winnetka to the north and Wilmette to the south that attends the school. All students go on to New Trier High School (or a private high school such as Loyola.)

Homes in the Joseph Sears School district have sold in the past year from $455,00 to $3,775,000. The homes on the east side of the Metra rail line were built in the 1890s through the turn of the century. There are many elegant Queen Anne, Prairie, and Victorian homes.  The west side of town is slightly newer, with most homes built in the 20s, 30s, and 40s. And there is, of course, much new construction as well.

Kenilworth has its own beach which is open to the public. Retail is limited along a stretch of Green Bay Road and a small portion of Park Avenue although that may change soon as revitalization plans move forward.
