Broyles Chapel MBC Honors Rev. Ural Massey at Retirement Service
Broyles Chapel Missionary Baptist Church honored Rev. Ural Massey at a retirement service on Sunday, February 23, 2014. The services were held at Riverside Baptist Church in order to accommodate the anticipated large crowd, which showed up as expected. The house was packed!
What a blessing this service was. Pastor Massey has been God's faithful servant at Broyles Chapel for 34 and 1/2 years! He has helped to unify the town of Riverside -- and beyond! He is a great man of God, and a true friend.
For those of you who were unable to attend, here's a brief recap of some of the things that went on:
Pastor-Elect Ronald L. Davis opened the services, followed by the entrance of Rev. Ural Massey and Sister Michaela Massey. Sister Sharon Heald was the Mistress of the Ceremony.
The Broyles Chapel Deacons sang He Lifted Me followed by several songs by the Broyles Chapel Choir which was lead by Sister Patricia Elliott (In collage top.)
Pastor Massey's daughter, Sister Andrea Massey, also honored her pastor, and gently reminded the crowd "You call him Pastor.... I call him daddy..."
Granddaughters Kiya Jones and Sahraiya Smith shared the BCMBC history and recited a poem. After that, a grandson, Bruce McCollister, brought up a group and the three of them sang.
Sister Betty Catrell sang a solo.
Grandson Bruce McCollister's group sang.
Pastor T. Whiteside brought the message and boy did he preach! When he said "GLORY!" The whole building shook!
There were pastors from all over and each was allowed a moment to share.
Following the service, attendees moved to the Fellowship Hall where there was enough food to feed an army - and we broke bread together.
All in all.... it was a HUGE family reunion! The family of God!
