We are not that different.

In many of the marketing propaganda that we read today, you can usually find a reference or article regarding the "new consumer," (Baby boomers, Gen x'er, Gen Y'ers....) their changing habits and how to work with this new generation of buyers. There are plenty of articles and columns with advice, predictions on how to prepare Realtors® to meet these needs.

I don't know about you, but I think the more things change, the more they stay the same.

I look at my children ages 24,22,18,13, and I don't think they are a lot different that I was at that those same ages.  Conversely, I look at my parents and see myself in a few years. Sure tech devices have changed and those devices make us behave a little differently, but core personality types and outcomes are the same.

What do you think?

Stereotypeing? I can't see how that would work. If you already have preconceived ideas of how someone is...something might come out that offends them. I have a friend that only dresses in hiking shorts and T-shirts with nasty/sexual, or beer sayings. He never gets help in a store unless he asks for it, or their worried he is going to steal something...the real reason is that he made a fortune in hs 20s and 30s...and hasn't has to work for the last 7 years. Grew up in the 70s and still has all his hair..so yes it is halfway down his back in a ponytail. I have 2 adult boys....and then when the wife says...your just like your father...they laugh, smile and say thank you, and give her a kiss....hehehe

I don't think personality types change with age. I have good friends that are 40-50 years older than and some that are 20 younger. (I'm 39) The best personalities look for what they can learn from others.

Don't you think that kids growing up under the current President Bush should be considered to be Generation W (Dubuya)?
