Saying Goodbye To Hailey Owens
I've lived in Springfield Missouri since the early 1980's and last week a young girl named Hailey Owens was abducted, killed and found within a short time.
I remember the amber alert going off on my cell phone around 7:00 PM as I was leaving my office and thinking, oh no! Another child has gone missing. Little did I know at that time she had been missing for several hours.
Over the past week, the entire city has come together to pay tribute to this wonderful little girl. Over 10,000 met on Saturday for a candlelight vigil. On Sunday, over 1600 motorcycles merged on Springfield for a ride to raise money for Hailey.
Today she is being laid to rest. Hopefully, her killer will be swiftly brought to justice. Nothing will bring Hailey back, but families will hold their children closer and remember how precious they are.
