The Metropolitan Grill on MSU Denver's Campus opens for business! Metropolitan St
ate University of Denver is really stepping it up with their hospitality program, competing with the likes of UNLV, and if their new on campus grill is an indication of what the rest of the program is like, it should be very tasty indeed.
The Metropolitan Grill is part of the Hospitality Tourism and Events program and is 100% run by students. It is only open M-Th during lunchtime, but has very good food and is very affordable. If you find yourself near the campus during lunch and need to find a great restaurant without the lines you might typically find downtown, do yourself a favor and check this place out.
I had the crab cake sliders which were served on toasted buns and topped with Cajun Aioli and
they were very good. My wife ordered the 1/2 pound burger served on toasted ciabatta roll and my son ordered the Roadrunner, a grilled chicken breast with melted cheddar, lettuce and tomato and pesto served on grilled focaccia bread. They were all delicious and the students even make the breads fresh on campus as well.
The students learn all aspects of the restaurant business while serving up some delicious food.
Marriott recently built a hotel on campus for the students in hotel management to have access to a working model. The building itself is split in half, one half housing a working hotel and the other half has classrooms and kitchens for the hospitality program.
This is a world class program and I would highly recommend any student or parent of a student considering hotel and restaurant management to take a serious look at what is going on right here in our own back yard at Metropolitan State University of Denver.
And if you are near the Auraria Campus or Pepsi Center during lunch and looking for a new place to eat during the week, put The Metroplitan Grill on your list, the service was great, the food was excellent and all proceeds including tips go to the hospitality program.
