My Movie-Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House
Mr. & Mrs. Blandings lived in the city in a high rise apartment. He rode the bus to work which was 25 blocks away and his wife usually took the elevator to the 20th floor unless the elevator was broken and that seemed to be always. This could be difficult when carrying 5 bags of groceries after the taxi dropped her off.

Blandings decided to move to the country and buy a little fixer with the money they had been saving. So they called Kristin Hamilton; Realtor in Redlands.
Kristin was glad to help them and showed them several places. They wanted some land, flowers, a little barn and a house to remodel.

They found the perfect home and soon settled in.
Kristin suggested several contractors but Mr. Blandings said he knew a thing or two about contruction, plumbing, roofing and electrical so he wanted to do it himself. Kristin said she "highly recommended" a licensed contractor but he was sure he wanted to do it himself.
First he installed a dishwasher. The next morning he went to work which was now 20 miles away. About 11:00 am his wife called frantically and said the dishwasher was leaking and flooding the house. He had to race home and stop the flood. He decided to put that project on hold.
Then he had roofing tiles delivered and on Saturday morning started replacing the tiles. He had the project all done by nightfall. He called his wife to come look. He was so happy and waiving his arms as he fell through the roof into the bedroom below. OK, he said he would put that project on hold.
His wife asked him to patch the walls in the house so he thought this would be easy. He patched the big holes with plaster and then painted the walls. Later, the paint started peeling off. Very frustrating.
He tried to fix the heater and install a new thermostat. Did this with no problem and while they were sleeping the air conditioning came on. He couldn't get it to turn off. By early the next morning, it was around 55 degrees in the house.
Mrs. Blandings called her Realtor, Kristin Hamilton, and asked her if she knew of a good licensed contractor. Kristin said she would meet him at the property at 5:00 pm that afternoon and he could give them an estimate.
He walked around, went in the attic and basement and took lots of notes and pictures. He promised he would call within a day and give them an estimate of what it would take to get the farm in good shape.
He called the next afternoon, told them what it would cost, he would get all the permits with the county and that his crew could start in 2 days and first of all fix the "big hole in the roof" before the rain started. The Blandings were so happy and the amount was a lot less than they thought it would be. Hooray!
Several weeks later, the Blandings home was all done, looking beautiful and they still had money in the bank. They had invited Kristin Hamilton, Realtor, to their house warming party with all their family and friends and they were so happy plus all the stress was gone. They had nothing to worry about now and would not lose any more sleep. Well...Maybe not as Mrs. Blandings announced at the party that they were expecting a baby.

What wonderful news and the Blanding lived happily ever after!
Remember to always hire a Realtor and a Licensed Contractor.
