Gas Station Ownership...What is the benefit?

I am often asked, "why should I buy a gas station?"....and these are serious folks. Many times one thinks that if they buy a station they will get free gas and food and all the soda they want. Well, as we all know, there is no such thing as "free lunch"....and same with the station business. But, in reality, an owner does get some attractive benefits, such as the wholesale price on gas as well as all of the product in the Convenience Store.

In addition, though, this is small business ownership to the full degree, including the original 24/7 working hours. Owners are total managers and executives at the same time, as well as being their own HR department, and usually their own security department. But, it can be very rewarding, and depending on the market location, an owner can do very well financially. But, it is hard work; takes a very astute business person that knows how to buy right; and one that is willing to put in long hours to deal with the many issues that come up in any kind of people serving business. As with all businesses, though, it is not a business for one that has never worked in this industry, for the learning curve is hard.
