It all started when my lap-top died. It had been on life-support for quite a while, but I never had the luxury of being without it for 2 days or more to be repaired. So it died, and I got a new one with Windows 8.1.
I’ve had it for about 2 weeks now; all my old data has been restored and I’m getting used to it after installing a Classic sleeve which actually makes it look and act a lot more like Windows 7.
But, I’m blaming Windows 8.1:
I cried, actually sobbed uncontrollably when I saw the video about the little boy sitting on a bus bench with no coat in Norway and how the passersby tried to help him.
The tears welled up again when my husband had to go with me to a house and help me pack-up the church donations that the sellers left. He offered- but he wasn’t happy when he saw how much there was. I had visions of just smashing the T.V. with a sledge hammer rather than trying to move it.
I could have punched the other agent in the nose when there was a dispute about personal property AT THE CLOSING TABLE…when I had addressed the issue with him 2 weeks before for clarification. Thank God, I did not cry and I did not punch him either…..
I’m eating way too many pecan sandies and cussing- a lot.
There have been several other incidents, since Windows 8.1, that have made my husband suggest more than once that I “need a vacation”- which is code for “you’re really losing it!”
Learning a brand new operating system when you’re trying to do business is very stressful. Who was the wise guy who decided that it would be a super idea to change the entire user interface? Someone who obviously has no idea of the far reaching consequences of their actions.
I have no doubt I will survive Windows 8.1….and 9, and 14 and 22….I’m trying really hard to keep it together while "operating" under stress. 'Not sure that “the Windows 8.1 defense” would hold up in any court of law, anyway!
