In recent years the Hudson Valley Food & Wine Festival was held at the Grieg's Farm In Red Hook Dutchess County. This year it will be at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck.

This festival provides lots of fun for the entire family. You can enjoy the food tasting while watching a chef demonstrating how to cook with chocolate or the best way to enjoy wines. It is a change to stock up on sauces and jellies. Then the hayrides and balloon rides are also big hits with both children and adults.

I suspect the adults are mostly interested in the wine. I was impressed last year when I heard the people selling tickets for the wine tasting asking who was going to be the designated driver.

This is a great time for the wineries in Dutchess County to feature their best wines. Last year I purchased

EMBRACE a raspberry desert wine from the Clinton Vineyards. It was oh so delicious.

The nice thing about this event is; it features more than Hudson Valley Wines, the other wine regions of New York State are also represented. So mark your calendar, this special event will be held on September 8th 2007 only 6 weeks away.

If you want to get a headstart the Dutchess County Fair will be held On August 21-26, 2007, this is a very popular event with people coming from all over the state. Yes now is a great time to enjoy the activities of the Hudson Valley.

Carole _ I d hope we will see some of the wines from the Long Island region. The weather is usually good in September. Last year it was a bit windy for the balloon rides.

Jennifer, I do not drink much, but I do like some of our local wines. In fact I usually give a bottle of a local wine at most of my Closings so the the Buyer can enjoy it with their first meal in their new house.

George - I too drink very little, but I have friends who are really into the types of wines both local and international so I usually go along on tours of wineries. I think wine is a popular closing gift.
