In the nation’s hottest foreclosure markets, Hedge Funds, or institutional investors, are contributing to foreclosure price increases and a decline in REO inventories. The most popular states appear to be: Arizona, Nevada, Georgia and Florida according to reports from market analysts.
Hedge funds have already absorbed the supply of REOs and foreclosures in the locations where they are concentrating and are being bought faster than they can be replaced, thus driving prices upward.
Atlanta is one of the areas hardest hit. In their market, institutional investors are paying less on price per square foot and buying smaller homes than non-investors.
