Add my detector, pan and shovel... ready for adventure around Sandy UT

books on dowsing

Winter allows for dreaming and reading and planning. What to tackle in the warmer times?

One of my hobbies is looking for gold. I will settle for silver, meteorites or forgotten treasure.

My early training in Archaeology included Geology and an interest in alluvial gold. Utah provides my playground - a State with a history of mineral wealth (I live a few miles from the World's largest open cut copper mine and a short distance from historic silver wealth in canyons of the Wasatch Front) with much documentation of early sites.

I have used the winter months to brush up on my dowsing skills (occult to some, but quite practical in application) designed to improve my success rate. Map dowsing to start with followed by field application, all very non-intrusive. Plenty of books available on the subject.

Even using my power chair, I can cover a lot of territory with day trips in my van from Sandy UT.

Much like fishing, get something or turn up empty handed, the prospecting process is always full of expectation. And my stories just as expansive.

Fishing, hunting, prospecting... Utah offers adventure everywhere.

Hi Larry,

I think looking for gold is a very interesting hobby and can be very profitable. I live in CA and this state was one of the biggies in the gold rush era. Good luck and show us some nuggats this spring.

Kristin - my previous work here has produced tiny nuggetd and a variety of gold flake. I work on the premises that gold is where you find it and gold is where it has been found before. Gold rushes of CA and Australia were about the same time and with similar enthusiasm. The old fields in Oz entertained me for many years.
