March: Go Green in Charming Downtown Camas
Camas is going green, and this eco-friendly Irish lass couldn’t be happier. Imagine combining a Lucky Leprechaun, with an environmental soul, and you’ve got the gist of the upcoming First Friday in downtown Camas. You can wear green, find green, be green, and win green at the “March: Go Green” on Friday, March 7th.
Wear Green and get a free raffle ticket - plus you’ll be eligible for extras if you sport a green hat. A popular activity at the March First Friday is “Find the Lucky Leprechaun.” Each participating merchant will have “ lucky leprechaun” in their business, and for every one you find, you’ll be entered to win a variety of green prizes.
Naturally, the local eateries will be open with a variety of green specials - and rumor has it, there will even be green cotton candy stand set up near Journey Church. There will be live music, S’more’s roasting over real fire pits in the street, and of course there will be a few Irish Ales. This is an Irish celebration too, you know.
Green Events for Camas, and the Planet.
Bring the youngsters. Eartha the Clown will be around from 5:30 to 7:30 teaching awareness about the earth, an appreciation for all life, and the importance of being good stewards of our planet. You can even get a photo with Eartha and her Moluccan cockatoo, “Major.” Eartha likes to have fun, but she’s not clowning around about her love of nature.
Other green events include the “Green Zone,” where you can learn how easy it is to make this world a greener place with fun activities and giveaways from local non-profit organizations. The Master Gardeners will be giving out free seed packets, and Waste Connections will have a recycling game and free pencils made from recycled blue jeans.
Many Camas businesses are doing their part to “go green,” be sure to thank them for their efforts. First Fridays are held on the First Friday of every month from 5-8PM in the charming tree-lined streets of downtown Camas. Be sure to wear your green, find green, be green, and win green, Friday, March 7, 2014.
