My First Coyote Pictures

My First Coyote Picture

I have been trying to get a good coyote picture for a year or more. I am either without my camera when one pops up in the daytime or my camera focuses on the bushes beside the coyote and he ends up being out of focus.

My First Coyote Picture

Last week I saw one but it was almost dark outside and he blended into the hillside so it was too dark.

I Spotted My First Coyote in Calimesa

But today, the conditions were perfect and I had my good camera.

I am a happy Realtor and Photographer who found a coyote in the foothills of Calimesa.

And there he goes looking for dinner.

My First Coyote Photograph in Riverside CA

Now I am on a mission trying to get the cottontail bunnies in my neighborhood. Bunnies do not come out until dark and then my camera cannot focus. Onward and upward!

Hi Mark,

They just seem to hide and of course I do not want them creeping around my house at night. Pretty scary when you have little pets so you don't want to put them outside in the night to go potty.

Great pictures Kristin, for all of the wildlife that we see, we seldom get a picture, just the memory stamped in our minds while the camera remains in the truck or our pocket until the moment has passed.

Hi Kristin, Excellent, Excellent. I know that it takes patience and sometimes it seems it will never happen. It will and when it does, it is no longer an ordinary photo but a real treasur. Only you know what it takes to get the photo and that is where the real satisfaction is in Photography. But others that have done it know how special it is for you.

Hi Bob,

I was excited to get one in the daylight. I do not like coyotes but wanted to say I had gotten a picture.

Hi William,

You're a lover of nature and take beautiful pictures too. I am waiting for the birds to migrate back soon.

Hi Tom,

I try to take my camera with me all the time but lately get so dependent on my camera phone that I miss important shots like this where I need my camera. Spring is coming so I must be prepared for anything.

Coyotes can be difficult to photograph.  I live in an area that backs up to the American River Parkway.  I'm literally within a half mile of where they dwell.  I've taken some distant shots, but only one fairly close up.  It came last summer during a wildfire in the area.  I was on my bicycle, and there was a coyote, a flock of turkeys and me, together under a tree, which was a protected area from the fire.  We were unusual company to say the least.

CONGRATULATIONS on having this blog FEATURED in the Photos group!

Hi Toni,

I cracked up laughing when I read your post. Us photobloggers want to get the photos no matter what. Except for the mountain lion they are looking for. If I see it, just through the windows.

We are having problems in our area; within 20-30 miles of mountain lion sitings and 2 nights ago a mountain lion killed a 100 lb German Sheppard after jumping a 8 ft fence and attacked the dog. The Sheriff's helicopter spent 28 hours searching for it  using heat sensor equipment since  Fish and Game Dept says it must be sick and dangerous and has to be stopped it if you know what I mean! They haven't found it yet. It could attack and kill a person also. Several other mountain lion attacks within 10 miles and 50 miles so they must be a lot of them around this spring.
