Carriers of Heaven

By
Industry Observer

When we who are known as Christians or "little Christs" sign up for the life of Christ, not only does something physically and spiritually change , but we've now made a covenant with God to be carriers of Heaven to this lost and lonely world. Jesus' instructions to His apostles on their first missionary journey was this... take nothing with you but Heaven..., Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.

I've just taken a part time position with a company as a Direct Support Professional. With no prior experience I was given a position to go into group type homes that provide support for young men with Autism trying to acclimate to the world and be more of a part in it. I believe it was my ministry training that gave me the position because I had no prior experience of which they were looking to see.

While I was on the job training I was observing at a home where there are 2 individuals with autism. I can't give names but I'll say that one young man had a mazuzah on his door frame alerting me that he is from a Jewish background. He is non-communicative in standard ways. He lives in his own world and is constantly on the move shaking his head back and forth all the time in a way that would make anyone of us too dizzy to stand. He is a precious young man. The supervisor at one point went to him and scratched the palm of his hand and it calmed him for a short time.

The second day I was in this home, he came to me and held out his hand. So I sat with him for a few minutes scratching his hands as the supervisor showed me. We were alone and knowing he was raised in a jewish home, I started speaking the little bit of hebrew I knew while sitting with him. He became very calm as one would expect when hearing the word shalom spoken over him. Later he came looking for me and took my hand leading me to the sofa where we sat and I started doing the same thing and I also spoke in tongues over him as well. He got so calm that he actually laid his head down on my lap for a while. I have made a friend for life. The others working there all commented how unusual it was for him to take to someone so quickly and they had never seen him snuggle up to anyone other than his family before in the past 2 years since he's lived there.

My point is this, we are carriers of Heaven wherever we go. It is our mandate to share this Heaven with all others. I could just show up and do my job and nothing further but it will only result in earthly rewards. When we do the supernatural on the job, people have no other recourse but to respond. God gives us a spirit of reconciliation which in this case is me being a conduit between a man and his God. The words I knew to speak are following and simply mean this, Blessed are you God, Creator of the universe. But it's the language that connects to a jewish spirit. Remember Jesus our Lord and Savior was and is a Jewish rabbi.

Barukh atah Adonai Eloheinu, melekh ha'olam

I will be learning more Hebrew before going back to his home.

I also hope to report all the amazing things that Jesus has been doing in our lives these past few months shortly, for now I'm not at liberty to discus any of it. I apologize to those faithful few who have kept reading my very sporadic posts and thank you for your faithfulness.

Still in the rain... Bob

Bob Language is a powerful thing and was the element good used to create.  Hebrew and prayer language are particulary powerful.  Thanks for an inspirational post.
