#9 What would you do?

You have planned a weekend away with your husband for 3 months. The time has come to go for 3 days. The day before you leave a long time client calls and says their best friend of 20 years is in town and wants to buy a $1,000,000 house. They want to view homes today and tomorrow with the hopes of buying one before they leave town. You and your husband have counted on this time away. The reservations are paid and arrangements have been made. What would you do?

1. Meet with the clients and have another agent with you. After you feel they are comfortable, go ahead on your vacation but stay in touch and do the offer when they are ready to make an offer

2. Tell your friend you are thankful for the referral but you are on vacation and they need to come back another time or you will find them an agent to help them now

3. You stay home and help the clients. You sell the house and go on your vacation the following weekend.

4. You stay and work one extra day to see if they really are serious buyers. You get the deal done and go for 2 days.

I learned long ago not to change my personal plans because it seems murphys law is such that if I stayed home the deal didn't come together. If I went ahead w/ my plans, they always did. Refer it out. If they don't understand someone else can show them and you'll be there when you get back, then they're not the type of people I'd want to work with.

Love being on a team and do not have the concern of an 'in-town' buyer vs a planned vacation. Recently went on a 2 week vacation back to Waikiki with my two Brokers and our Orlando office team took over the 'shop.' Yes, we had 3 laptops, iPad, and smart phones in Hawaii (ha), but not once did we have concern of being 4700 miles distance - Orlando to Honolulu. Personally if not on a team and dealing in multi milllion dollar properties, I probably would take the delayed vacation choice -- a $2,000,000. purchase and sale is something I do not like gambling on.
