Carlsbad Farmers’ Market Gets Ready for Spring

The Carlsbad Farmers’ Market is getting ready for spring, which as you may remember starts in just 2 more weeks on Thursday March 20.

Now held only on Wednesdays on State Street in the heart of the Village (instead of the former location on Wednesdays and Saturdays where it moved from in June 2013), the current hours for the Carlsbad Farmers’ Market of 3 – 6 pm will be expanded after Daylight Saving Time begins (yes that starts tomorrow, remember? Spring Ahead = lose 1 hour of sleep).

New hours for the Farmers’ Market in Carlsbad Village will be 3 – 7 pm. In case you haven’t been, it’s now located on State Street between Carlsbad Village Drive and Grand Avenue. The street is shut down for the market and there is ample free parking nearby (check out the lot by Fish House Vera Cruz across the street).

Riding a bike? You can get $1 off by taking your bike or helmet to the Information Booth at State and Grand, good for $1 off any booth at the Carlsbad market.

Interested in other Farmers’ Markets in the San Diego area? I would definitely check out Solana Beach and Hillcrest, and I hear the one in Little Italy is terrific as well (but no personal experience yet). Here’s a list of San Diego Farmers’ Markets.

Looks like fun.  Our farmers market don't begin until about July 1st.

If someone opens a stand with a sign that says Farmers Market or Fresh Vegetables, we know they got the produce from the wholesale house.

The beauty of SoCal is that we have these year-round, although the produce varies in quality. Some of them are turning into mini-craft fairs, too, and several have numerous food booths for having a meal/dessert or doing take-out.

Yummy, makes me hungry for fresh produce! I love farmer's markets - and the great thing is we get to have them all year long in California! Have fun!

I'm jealous, Jeff! Your season is starting and I have to wait until June! It's worth the wait though and I'm really looking forward to it. Enjoy!

Actually, as soon as the weather is reliably warm, the outdoor markets will begin with items such as breads, crafts, jams/preserves, herbs, etc.  Produce will be seasonable.

Kathy - we are blessed to have such an abundance of fresh produce here in SoCal. I expect there will be some challenges, including with prices, because of the drought we are having

Rene - and perhaps you will appreciate it more than we do since it is so common. WHenever they take place, farmers' markets are really a treat
