Well here we are again – Daylight Savings Time! Tonight is the night that we need to PUT AHEAD our clocks. We’re starting the cycle all over again; lose an hour, wait eight months, November 2nd, and gain the hour back.
It’s not all for naught, however. Think of what Daylight Savings gives us – longer days with light to do more things; especially after work. As we approach the summer it gives us time to do things with the kids, like go to the park … take walks … play ball … go for a swim. And for those that love to golf, with longer days you can slip in a round at the day’s end. During the summer time, most of the parks have outstanding programs in the evenings for the entire family. There is just so much more that can be enjoyed during the Daylight Savings hours.
So, you don’t want to forget to SET YOUR CLOCK AHEAD AN HOUR; can’t be late for church in the morning or for whatever you may have planned. Write yourself a reminder and place it wherever the last thing you do is located. If you have children, let the kids get involved by writing the reminders and placing them where they think you will see them.
When Daylight Savings first started, people had a hard time getting used to it; they found it hard sleeping when they should, and getting up when they were supposed to. But in today’s time, most everyone is pretty accustomed to it and just go with the flow. Yeah, we all like to jokingly complain about it, but for the most part most people like the longer days during the spring and summer.
So … let’s jump into the spirit of it and enjoy the wonderful ‘longer’ days ahead! Get out there and take full pleasure in all that there is for us to enjoy.
In addition, this is the perfect time of year to change all the batteries in your smoke alarms and flashlights … get everything off to a good fresh start! Let each changing of the clocks be the time that we check or replace not just batteries, but light bulbs, filters and anything else that needs regular replacement.
Have a great rest of the year!!
