One of my favorite destinations in Historic Williamsburg Virginia in Merchants Square is Berret's Seafood Restaurant and Taphouse Grill. The food is exceptional and the wait staff are very friendly and customer service oriented.
One of the nice things about Williamsburg is that it's only about a one hour drive from my home in Richmond Virginia near Byrd Park and Carytown. Berret's always is my top choice for having lunch in Williamsburg. If lunch is any indication, then I know dinners at Berret's must be wonderful as well.
A very good friend of mine and I both happen to enjoy the food there. He ordered a gourmet salad and then had oysters on the half shell. Meanwhile, I had a wonderful chicken stew appetizer followed by a delicious chicken salad wrap. The ingredients always are remarkably fresh and tasty. I feel spoiled every time I go there, and Berret's is the perfect place to enjoy some of the best food anywhere!

Another great aspect of finding an exceptional restaurant is desserts. Even if we claim to be on a diet, I personally find it very difficult to resist the tempting and delicious variety of freshly-made desserts at Berret's.
According to our waitress, desserts at Berret's are made fresh on the premises by their chef. My friend and I happened to get different desserts last Saturday. He chose the daily lunch special dessert, Orange Buttercream Carrot Cake, and I ordered a peach and blueberry cobbler found on the regular menu. Both were very fresh, and I think even the most ardent dieters ought to consider breaking their "no desserts" vows just once in this instance.

The Orange Buttercream Carrot Cake, above, is very moist and no ordinary carrot cake.
When possible, why not treat yourself, your family and friends once in a while? If having a rewarding and memorable meal is what you like, then Berret's would be my top choice while visiting Williamsburg Virginia.
