Katy American Legion will be collecting American Flags that need to be retired. As most of us know, there is a proper method to retire any American Flag. Throwing the flag in the garbage or burning it are absolutely not the proper method of retirement and frankly you would be disgracing this great nation by doing so!
If you own an American Flag which is damaged, tattered, worn out, torn or discolored the Katy American Legion will be collecting those flags for a proper retirement ceremony. There are two dates for the collection of these flags being Saturday April 12, 2014 and Saturday April 19, 2014. The times are 10 AM to 2 PM. The collections points are the Kroger Grocery Store located at Mason Road and Peek in Katy and Lowes Home Improvement which is on the I-10 Feeder road at Fry Road in Katy.
A proper ceremony to retire these flags will be held at the Katy Elks Lodge on Flag Day June 14, 2014 at their annual ceremony. These flags will be burned in a dignified and proper manner. All are invited to attend this Flag Day ceremony whether you have donated a flag or have not donated one.
I am publishing the Flag Retirement information now so everyone who needs or wants to retire a flag can be prepared in advance.
