Are you ready to celebrate St. Patrick's Day 2014 in Tampa? Tampa Bay knows how to celebrate and you will have your choice of many events. Most of the events are taking place this weekend since St. Patrick's Day is on Monday. Are you ready to see the Hillsborough River dyed green?
The City of Tampa's official St. Patrick's Day event will be the Mayor's River O'Green Fest at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. This event is on Saturday, March 14, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. In 2010, the Tampa Attractions Association started the tradition of dying Garrison Channel green for St. Patrick's Day. This year the Hillsborough River will be dyed green and the party will be centered around the River O'Green. The celebration will include live entertainment featuring Lucid Druids, games, kids activities, beer, and food trucks with Irish faire. Food trucks will include Holy Hog BBQ, the Cheesesteak Truck, American Weiner, Aloha to Go, Burger Culture, and several more.
Even your pets can celebrate St. Patrick's Day 2014! The Mayor's River O'Green Fest is pet-friendly so there will be something for everyone. Cost of admission is free. The Salvation Army will be collecting food item donations in the Spirit of St. Patrick to continue helping those in need. The Salvation Army will have a tent on site to collect donations. Plan to bring cash for the food trucks.
If you aren't too tired after celebrating at the Mayor's River O'Green Fest, just hop on the TECO Streetcar and ride to Ybor City to watch the Rough Rider's St. Patrick's Day Parade! Streetcar service will temporarily end in Ybor City for the parade. The Parade begins at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2014. After the parade ends at 9:30 p.m., the TECO Streetcar will run until 2 a.m.
