Carlsbad Flower Fields Opened March 1, 2014

The famed Flower Fields in Carlsbad CA opened recently in Carlsbad and the flowers are beautiful. While they are not at their peak yet the view is still spectacular.

The Flower Fields are abloom in Carlsbad CaliforniaThis very popular Carlsbad tourist attraction offers 50 acres of extraordinary color that seems to get better and better.

The Carlsbad Flower Fields are only open for a couple of months each year. This year they opened March 1 and will remain open until May 11.

It’s an opportunity to see an amazing collection of flowers (ranunculas) on a hillside overlooking the ocean, as well as other floral displays.

Here’s a hint of what you can also see and experience at The Flower Fields:

·        There is a large rose garden with over 170 varieties of roses plus a miniature rose garden. Group tours are available, too.

·        Orchid greenhouse

·        Sweet pea maze

·        Attend special events

·        School tours and programs

·        An American Flag of flowers blooming on the south side of the fields

·        Gardening workshops

You’ll enjoy walking through the fields or hop on for an antique tractor wagon ride to really appreciate the beauty of The Flower Fields.

The Carlsbad Flower Fields are readily visible from the I-5 Freeway and are easy to spot, at the Palomar Road Exit at 5704 Paseo del Norte (look for the windmill) adjacent to the Carlsbad Premium Outlets Mall.

The best vantage point, in my opinion, is looking down on the fields from Armada Drive, with the Carlsbad windmill and 180 degree views of the ocean (off Palomar Airport Road just to the east or from Cannon to the South). See the VIDEO below.

You can purchase tickets on the Flower Fields website.

HHi Jeff, One of the beautiful treasures of our area. Remeber how big the fields were in the early 90's. They were even viewable from the highway. What a wonderous site. I had the opportunity to see the tulip fields in Holland a lot of years ago and the sites have never left my memory. They went on for as far as the eye could see.

They are, indeed, a treasure. I drive by often and stop on the hill to look, as do many others. I love the view toward the ocean and being able to see the entire Carlsbad coast with the windmill. I never saw the tulip fields when we were in Amsterdam - something I regret
