My personal Weltanschauung - Words that define my life view
Saturday I was in a class taught by Leslie Zann. She's a motivational speaker and focuses mostly on the Direct Sales industry.
My goal in any learning situation is to take away one or 2 very good ideas and to work on them immediately. I found it interesting that Vision continues to show up in different areas of my life.
Last month we did a Vision Board for our Cloudburst of you. Having a vision board is like having a goal in a picture.
Part of her exercise was on creating a Vision in 7 areas of your life. Career/Money, Adventure/Recreation, Service/Contribution, Physical, Mental, Spiritual and finally Relationships/Friends and Family.
Before we started the Vision exercise she asked "Who are You?" She didn't want titles, incomes, qualifications. She said to write down the words that discribe you as an individual. Your Values, Beliefs, Hopes and Dreams.
After several minutes of writing words that define us, she asked us to share the words with the person sitting next to us.
Wow. That was humbling. But does it have to be, really? These are the pricipals that guide us. Just like our Weltanschuung.
Here are my words:
Christian. Before anything else, I believe in Jesus Christ. My faith is the most important thing in my life. It's what makes the other words real.
Honest. You can count on me always telling you the truth. I may have to find a softer way to say something, but I will not intentionally lie to you. You can trust me.
Kind. I don't like mean people and choose to not be around them. I want to treat others the same way that I want to be treated.
Teacher. I choose to continually work on my own improvement. I will help others with the same. I want to support and help others in any way that I can.
Joyful. Every day is a gift. We don't know how much time we have. Finding the good things each day keeps us focused.
Thoughtful. You don't know what others are thinking or going through. Don't prejudge, don't assume. Be considerate of others.
