Since the internet is such a great source of business for many of us, I thought we could each share some of our search engine optimization tips. Here are some of the things I've learned over the last 6 months of research (Disclaimer:I am not an SEO expert, just sharing some basic ideas)
1. Age of your domain name is a factor with the major search engines-A domain that has been registered a few years ago would be favored over a domain only a few months old.
2. You need to change the content on your website frequently, fresh content will be helpful to your visitors and therefore help search engine spiders crawl your site more often.
3. Do not use a boilerplate template site, this is the kiss of death and will surely keep you from ranking in the search engines. If you have a template site, change the content or rewrite it in your own words.
4. Links from other webmasters are viewed by search engines as unbiased 3rd party votes and can greatly affect your ranking. Who links to you and with what words are the #1 ranking criteria for competitive phrases in all major search engines.
I will continue to add more SEO tips and helpful websites, so check back often for updates. Please share your knowledge as well.
