Branson New Show: Jonah, The Ultimate Fish Story

If you have never been to Branson Missouri, I'll give you one reason why you need to come. You need to see "JONAH" at the Sight and Sound Theatre. This is the ultimate fish story that comes to life in 3 dimensions!

The story of "Jonah" begins as a young child, a weakling, and deathly aftraid of water as he almost drowned.

As the story at Sight and Sound theatre progresses, Jonah is commanded by God to go to Nineveh to deliver a message to the people. Jonah doesn't want to do this as his father was killed in a battle with the people of Ninevah. As you can imagine he harbored great resentment for this act and could not forgive those people.

Jonah refuses to go to Ninevah and takes a boat (which he is deathly afraid of) to Tarshish. The boat (on stage this boat is 50 feet long!) begins on a clear day until a freak storm never seen before by the crew, threatens to destroy the boat.

The animated boat begins to rock and roll and move side to side with the crew literally hanging on for dear life! I was on the edge of my seat as I watched this boat sway from side to side, and front to back as the crew tries to figure out what to do.

The crew decides it can only be Jonah's God that can be that powerful and cause this catastrophic event. Jonah is below deck trying to ride out the storm. The boat literally opens up to see the scene below deck of Jonah sleeping and the frantic crew telling Jonah to tell his God to stop the seas.

Jonah decides it's best for him to abandon ship to save the crew and boat from disaster. When Jonah goes overboard, your theatre experience is in the water with Jonah.  When Jonah starts to sink, you see the fish and seaweed at the ocean's bottom. Then you experience this big whale in the theater! The whale is swimming in the water with you!

As Jonah is sinking, the whale literally swallows him. Then you, the audience, experience being in the belly of the whale with Jonah!

The whale has "indigestion" and literally throws him up on the shore. Jonah finally realizes he has to do what God wants him to do.

I won't tell you the rest of the story, as you just need to go see this event.

This musical performance is very riveting and exciting from start to finish with a wonderful message. The costumes, the sets, the animation, the performers, are just incredible. The talent from the writers, actors, to the producer, to put on a theatrical performance of this magnitude (I forgot the live animals also!) is top notch.

This inspirational story will be enjoyed by all ages. I will be bringing all my family and friends that come to visit in Branson, as this is on the top of the list of "MUST SEE" events.

Carolyn, this sounds amazing.  I've never heard of the Christian Broadway but I will be sure to visit the theater the next time I'm in Missouri. Thanks!
