Thinking of Doing Some Remodeling?
Having equity in our homes once again, many homeowners may be Thinking of Doing Some Remodeling. If you are one of them, think seriously about what you may or may not get back out of the money you sink into your home.
Every year the National Association of Realtors in cooperation with Remodeling Magazine collect information and put out a Cost vs Value report on various remodel projects. They vary across the country just like home values. You can check out the 2013 report here.
For a quick look at 5 projects that could cost more than the value you will regain, the California Association of Realtors shares this:
Remodeling change is exciting, no doubt, but if you're thinking of doing some remodeling do your homework and make sure you're goals will be met. If your goal is to sell within a year or two you may want to run your project by your Realtor for their thoughts and how buyers may look at it. It could affect them negatively verses positively.
