All politics is local, as the saying goes. And it doesn't get any more local than city council elections (except at the HOA level). It's time, once again, to vote for Addison Town Council members.
There are 4 candidates for 3 seats in the May 10, 2008 election: incumbents Tom Braun (Mayor Pro Tempore), Dennis Kraft (Councilmember), and Roger Mellow (Deputy Mayor Pro Tempore). They are joined by Blake Clemens who ran unsuccessfully last year and is hoping for different results this time.
As reported last year in The Dallas Morning News: "A routine background check by The Dallas Morning News revealed that Mr. Clemens was arrested in Florida in 1993. His former wife accused him of threatening her during their divorce, according to police reports. Prosecutors dismissed the case against him." It is unclear if this cost him the election last time.
All four candidates are scheduled to speak at the next Addison Business Association meeting on Wednesday, April 2nd at 11:45 at the Bent Tree Country Club, 5201 Westgrove Dr., Dallas TX 75248. The event is open to non-members of ABA. The fee, including lunch, is $25.
Early voting begins April 28th and runs through May 6th. All precincts vote early at the Addison Central Fire Station, 4798 Airport Parkway. On election day, May 10th, precinct 1602 votes at the Central Fire Station, while precincts 1600 and 1601 vote at Fire Station #2, 3950 Beltway, next to the Addison Athletic Center.
