Hey Andrew,
Great to hear from you, thanks for joining and visiting the blog
Great idea...don't forget the wives and families of Vets in Real Estate as well.
Vanessa,
You're exactly right they're an integral part of the entire process
Tammie,
Thanks for the inquiry. Anyone can join this group, not just vets, we highly encourage anyone to join us in our efforts to spread the word about working with vets and the entire VA process
Count me in Alex. Living in a military town, I work with many active duty, separating, and retired military members.
Great group! I have only come across one other Vet in real estate so it is nice to see a group of them. I have alot of military friends across the country so it would be comforting to know someone to refer them to who understands their way of life!
Anita,
I knew we could count on you, it's a great area to help Realtors who don't know about the intricacies of Vets and the VA process
Heather,
Thanks for stopping by and visiting, anything we can do to help we're here for you. The goal is to have a vet realtor in each city that we can go to to help veterans get homes
Alex, it's great that your friend is creating groups for Vets serving Vets in real estate! I fully support the military and they need our help especially when they transfer back into civilian life!
Thanks for the info on this new group. Working with our military families and vets of any age group has always been a pleasure.
Hello Alex - What a great idea for a group. Would y'all accept an inspector who is also a vetern??
I love the concept. I'll be stopping back by when things get a bit more organized.
Jack,
I fully agree with you, as someone who was activated not long after 9-11, I can tell you one day I was in the military and the next day I was a police officer again
Joan,
Thanks for stopping by and reading, please join us at your convenience.
Way to go, Alex! The group is only a few days old and a handful of members - and you already got a Feature post to get the word out. I'm enjoying the favorable response and look forward to watching the network evolve.
Rob,
Thanks for stopping by and please join us, spreading the word amongst us for those experienced in working with veterans means alot to the vet in the end buying or selling the house. There's a wealth of knowledage already in the group and will only get better over time.![]()
Keith,
It was due in no small part to you actually starting the group. Thanks and keep them coming, hope you do well out there in Austin, I actually have 3 veteran friends who live there that I'll be sending your way in the next 2-3 months
post script: I provided connections this morning to Realtors in Hot Springs, AR and Nashville (I say connections because the referrals weren't my clients). Saw two more this afternoon for California City and Hesperia, CA. We get these recommendation requests every week and I want to pass them along to the group.
Laura,
Thanks for stopping by and visiting us. The process when you seperate from active duty is like 2 days of classes crammed with just about everything you can think of, and it's thrown at you so fast you have no idea what's up or down. Love and light back at ya
Alex... what a great idea and I sure to plan to join. Veterans like yourself will certainly bring a useful perspective to those of us who work with them.
Nina,
Hey it's great hearing from ya.....How was the convention in Vegas? Thanks for stopping by and reading our blog. I hope you join our group
Keith and Alex, great idea "Vets serving Vets". After 27 years on active duty and then 4 years as a government contractor, we need stronger Veteran connections. That's 10 PCSs (when you factor in military schooling) and 3 combat tours. I've bought and sold 6 homes, leased/rented the rest. As you stated in one of your other posts, no one understands "Moveout and draw fire!" or "Mission First, Families Always" unless you've been there, done that. Fellow civilian agents can't grasp the concept of me video taping a showing and posting it in the cloud so a servicemember can see it in Germany before they PCS. They may only have 2 weeks of TLE and the earlier they can look at homes the better, even had a guy make an offer on REO just based on video. Other agents are totally baffled that a Soldier would do that, until I explain that I am there to take care of a fellow warrior and I would not let him make a bad choice. It goes back to "Trusting your Battle Buddy."
If you have any Vets moving to the Tampa Bay, FL area; MacDill AFB, CENTCOM, SOCOM, or just trading the combat boots for flip flops, send me a message.
James,
WOW, that's an incredible career, 27 years and multiple combat tours. Thanks for your service brother, I used to live down at Tampa/Macdill. Absolutely, if I, or any others in this group know of someone moving to Tampa we'll send them your way. Keep up the good fight and keep your powder dry. Semper Fi
Alex...I will join your group following this response to your blog. I am sure you can grow your group very rapidly.
I must take a diffrent opinion though to James # 29.
I am not ex or retired military and yet after working for 12 years with the military buyers and sellers in Colorado Springs before moving here to Kearney, I fully understand the unique requirements of the military property owner.
Many times I shot video of homes and sent it to overseas clients who were PCSing into the Springs. In fact, the first times I did it...the videos were transferred to VCR format and mailed as computers were not yet capable of transferring the data. Many times I had military clients buy off the videos or photos with a contingency of approval within X days of arrival or whatever we wrote.
I have sold to Air Force, Army, Marine, and yes even Navy in Colorado Springs plus the Canadian Air Force. They all are there.
Even in little old Kearney, NE... I sold a home to an Air Force recruiter a few years ago. When he headed to his final assignment in Alaska...he wondered whether to sell or rent it. I suggested renting if he was coming back...which he is in June after he retires. His home is now worth 25% more than when he left in 2011.
Guess who wants to join me in Real Estate? Master Sergeant Matt Spunaugle!!
I have sold to dozens and dozens of retired military over the years...in fact most of my older buyers...now roughly age 50 and up...were military at one time.
So Yeah...there are civilians out there that DO understand the process.
And many more who understand and respect the sacrifice that our military personel, their families, and the support cast of civilians have made over the years and centuries that allow us to live in the greatest country in the world.
I will join this group as I serve the Omaha, NE area and have a good understanding of VA financing issues. Retired from the USAF in 1992 after 22years. I mirror Mike McCann from Kearney, NE in serving our military folks around the world with their real estate needs. Technolgy has really made this profession better in a lot of ways.
Look forward to meeting with you Mike at our State Convention in La Vista Apr 7 to 9.
Thanks for letting everyone know about the group, Alex. Being in the Clarksville, TN (home of the 101st Airborne), and D.C. markets, we have a LOT of clients who serve military families. I'll get our social media manager to share this info on Facebook and Twitter.
Good idea! I'm not a Vet, but my husband and our best friend are both Viet Nam Vets. My thanks to all of you - veterans and active military.
Interesting and informative comment from Mike, #34, who shares his experience and respect for our veterans. Some agents, like myself, haven't had much experience helping veterans, yet we're capable and should be able to help veterans too, however, if being a veteran to join this group is a requirement, that would eliminate many agents.
Hey, I just sent a Request in. U.S.Army 1972-75, Medic & Bandsman, just got my MRP Designation last month(class was held in the same Army Hospital that I worked the ER in & now go to for V.A.). Active & Officer in Local V.F.W. and American Legion. Previously on CoC Military Affairs Committee.
Exciting to see this post! Have tons and tons of military here in the Virginia-DC-Maryland area, with half of them coming and going all the time. Am not military, but certainly have worked with them over my years as a Realtor. Recently worked for a new designation -- Military Residential Specialist ("MilRES") -- and am anxious to spread the word, to include this group as well, so we can all do more in really understanding the challenges and better serving the folks who do so much on our behalf for the well-being of our country. Please add me to your membership rolls! I look forward to getting involved, and let me know when I can be of service here in Northern Virginia!
Mike,
It's OK to disagree, I think anyone or any cause that helps vets, active and prior, as being OK in books if you ask me. Thanks for stopping by and joining our group
Rod,
Thanks for stopping by and welcome to the group. Thank you for service, I look forward to what we can generate amongst ourselves, collectively, lead wise
Jim,
That's awesome and thank you for doing that to get us more exposure on SM. You have my cell and email anytime you need anyting or any help. We just got the new F35 strike fighters out here at Luke AFB, it's gonna be the home to them for the AF and worlds largest F35 training base.
Marte,
Thank them from the group for all their service, and just because you're not a veteran doesn't mean you cant join our group, we welcome anyone that is a vet, works with vets, has family that are vets, wishes they were a vet.....you get the idea, welcome any and all![]()
Gene,
Love hearing about the lenders who like VA loans, they're the best loan in the USG inventory and really, really easy to do
Kimo,
Thanks for stopping by and reading, there is no requirement to be a part of this group, anyone and everyone can join, if it helps spread the word about vets and answers one question that helps one vet get a home then the group has accomplished it's mission. Welcome
Travis,
Welcome, love seeing the Trav man in the Fedora coming over to join us. I too just got the MRP cert, there's only about 50 of us in all of AZ. Small steps my friend, we will get there.
Wendy,
Thanks for stopping by to read and comment, we can't join you, you join yourself, its an open group to help spread the word about dealing with anything and everything veteran in the home buying/selling process. Welcome
What a wonderful idea. Our Vets need to know there are agents who support them and want to help them through the home buying or selling process. I am not a Vet but I am married to one and am pleased to be part of a group dedicated to helping our Fighting Men & Women with their Real Estate needs.
Sandra,
Thanks for stopping by, reading and commenting. We'd like to think it's a pretty good idea, vets only represent about 27% of the market here in AZ, so it's a huge chunk. Thanks for joining us, we look forward to discussions and mutally helping one and all
'Looking forward to this group... I've kinda slacked off with my military posts lately, but this is my very favorite niche.
Hello All! Was recommended to the group by Jerry Newman. I retired from the Air Force after 20 years and now live in Huntsville, AL. Looking forward to the posts in the group and getting to know everyone.
Semper Fi! Thanks for all the veterans who have served. Looking forward to participating in the group and learning from you all. Thanks
Every day is Veterans Day! Off to enlist, join up.
