I spoke to over 150 people today and over a 1,000 in a week.
I'm not bragging but would say that is a pretty good reach thanks to an online presence here on ActiveRain, Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter! Social media gets people involved and interacting and the clicks add up in a day's time. Viewing how many people have read an article or blog helps to gauge where time is better spent.
While there is no replacement for face-to-face meetings, how often can you contact 100s of people in a day or potentially thousands in a week's time? You could become a motivational speaker, do television commercials or set up a seminar or workshop but as a busy agent, is that feasible? Probably not.
The power of social media for business is a fantastic work tool that reaches out to your Sphere of Influence, furthering listing information, market reports, local news, helpful hints, cleaning tips, upcoming events in the local community and holiday events. Having a strong online presence also comes with a few rules of etiquette to maintain a healthy balance such as:
- Be your own censor before hitting the submit button. If your Grandma would be offended, think twice before posting.
- Reply to people that have taken the time to spend part of their day with you when time allows. Address people by their names, they like to hear it.
- Make the subject of your post something that engages and invites others to participate, it should not always be about you!
Several months ago, a family who visited the southern Utah area on vacation lost their dog and with the help of people sharing the photo on Facebook, they managed to find him alive 3 days later! Social media is a powerful tool that enhances business, so get the best use from it, reach out, create some relationships and have some fun too.
And of course, carry on!
