Yesterday morning, our office took a tour of The Western Ridge Resort. The Western Ridge has a restaurant, swimming pool, RV campground, gas station, manager’s home, a large barn, cabins to rent, horse stables and so much more.
One of the cabins to rent, called the Blacksmith Shop really was a Blacksmith’s shop and the old forge is still there in the corner of the cabin.
Beautiful old cottonwood trees grace the area surounding the cabins with lovely shade in summer. There you can also find an old unused root cellar, a chicken coop and other remnants of days gone by.
Many other buildings stand in for dry storage and one is a workshop. The loft on top of the barn is a huge open room with a sturdy old wooden floor and is accessible from both the stairs out front and a ramp in the back. It was interesting to see all of it and recognize some of what it takes to ensure a thriving business here at the Western Ridge.
Even more interesting was that the listing agents, our brokers Sue and Lucille, lived in the adjacent LOX ranch before the 2 properties were split. Personal stories about this or that just made the tour that much more enjoyable!
There is a lot of history here, long before Glacier View Meadows was developed the area consisted of only large working ranches.
In summer, trail rides go out into the adjacent national forest, both in the daytime and for an evening steak fry. Seven horses stay with the property when it’s sold. These horses are familiar with frequent visitors and came over to say "hello". We walked through the riding arena to one ridge on the property. On that ridge, you can see Gordon Creek runs through and to the south and west large stands of ponderosa pine.
After the tour, we had a delicious breakfast in the restaurant. I frequently meet clients down at the restaurant, where we always find a warm welcome, good coffee, great food and a cozy western atmosphere.

You can find the Western Ridge Resort at 98 Eiger Rd. in Livermore, Colorado. Take Hwy 287 North from Fort Collins, and go west on County Rd. 74 E (The Red Feather Lakes Rd.) about 11 miles. The Western Ridge Resort is on the left, turn left on Eiger Road/ Gate 1 Glacier View Meadows.

All in all, yesterday was a great day to be at the Western Ridge, in Livermore, Colorado, but then again, almost any day is.
