In the middle of Historic Downtown Franklin TN sits a gem of a country style restaurant. When I say "country style" I mean the sort of place where their delicious macaroni and cheese is one of their vegetable side options! They serve up Southern Style "comfort food" for the local residents and the many visitors who travel to Franklin TN looking for something authentically Tennessee. If that's what you're looking for, this is the place!
The Puckett family started their business in the 1950's in nearby Leiper's Fork. That location was primarily a small country grocery store, but they found after a number of years that folks living nearby were very interested in their home cooked meals. In the mid 1990's a local man, Andy Marshall, who loved both the food and the music possibilities purchased Puckett's Grocery and Restaurant.
Fast forward to 2004, and the business was expanded to Marshall's hometown, Historic Downtown Franklin. Located at 120 Fourth Avenue South, this venue is set up as a restaurant offering live entertainment. Both the food and the music are top notch!
The food options are simply fabulous. My all time favorite is their Southern Style barbecue pulled pork served on a Cajun Cake with sweet potato fries, cole slaw and sweet tea. Wow! Their cobbler with ice cream is simply amazing. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!
In the past few years Puckett's has expanded to locations in Downtown Nashville and in nearby Columbia TN. In 2012, they opened a new restaurant called Puckett's Boat House in Franklin specializing in seafood.
