Positive Signs in Real Estate Market

By
Real Estate Agent with Tanya & Co./Keller Williams

There were actually some positive signs in the real estate market at the national level lately. New mortgage applications jumped up in the beginning of March for the first time in more than a month according to the Mortgage Bankers Assocation. Also, the pending home sale index didn't decline in February as many predicted. It stayed flat. Finally, the Federal Reserve is keeping short term interest rates low. Could this mean real estate conditions are improving? I will keep you posted.

The market is definitely better in March compared to the previous month. It's the yearly cycle when summer will get HOT!

Tanya, I very much enjoyed your blog. It is refreshing to see that there are still some optimistic people out there. I always tell my people dont read the papers dont watch the news and just go to work. Things are going to turn around. All the signs are there. We deal alot with Diamonds, REO'S and all other commodities available and we are just hammered all the time. Thank you again for your positivity! Thanks, Keith

Looks like we are seeing some of the same in Michigan we just need the weather to cooperate. Get rid of the snow and and some sun shine would be nice.

My coach, Ken Goodfellow, told me not to watch the news or read the paper because it is all negative. I am glad you liked my optimism.

Locally, in Prince William County, we're seeing a great deal of improvement as well.

I am seing a lot more pending/closed posts in MLS.  This is great for my county buyers/sellers.  As a Smith Mountain Lake agent, I monitor the movement of the Myrtle Beach, SC market as an indicator for what is to come to the Smith Mountain Lake.  As it appears, the beach has shown signs of picking up so, I should see more activity in vacation property in the next month or so.  I just do not foresee the volume of 1M buyer's as I have seen in the last 1.5 years.
