Showing Feedback. . .What's it gonna take?

By

Isn't it nice to get showing feedback from agents after they have shown a property?  It doesn't have to be long or a detailed analysis of the property. . .Just a quick, "Doesn't meet my clients needs."  Or "Yes, there is some interest."  This past year I have asked numerous agents numerous times for feedback.  They go to the trouble to promise they will email or text me feedback and then never do.  I don't understand it.  When I am asked for feedback, I text, email or verbally tell another agent whose listing I have shown. . . "How it went."

Is showing feedback a thing of the past?  Are sellers to just assume that the buyer is not interested in the property. . . If they hear nothing back? And only if the buyer is interested will they be surprised when an offer magically appears?

Different markets have different levels of professional courtesy.  I guess Walla Walla is just very different from Seattle and Spokane and Tri Cities and Olympia and . . .You get my drift.  I am just one Broker out of 140 in the Walla Walla MLS.  It would be nice if home sellers would just start calling the agents who have shown their home and ask them direct. . . I bet they would give feedback then.  Just say'n.

Hi Trish, I have often wondered with the technology we have, why lockboxes can not be programmed for the agent to at least rate the home and the showing, 1-10 etc. All that would be required is when the keybox is closed for a code light to light up and offer a 1-10 rating. At least it would be something more than we can get other agents to respond to. Like you, I will always give feedback. To ignore a request is totally disrespectful , not to mention not very professional.

It may be laziness or jealousy, but whatever the reason it's just plain rude to not reply to a feedback request.

I know that there are quite a few agents around here who won't give feedback either.  And, payback is a B&%?^$.  You don't have to grill the clients, but ask them (nicely) to rate a home or provide them with a sheet for feedback as you view homes.

It's been my experience that many agents don't play well together.  I've been in the car with agents when they don't answer their phone because they know it's an agent looking for promised feedback.  I've been with agents while they make the calls looking for feedback, only to be dismissed or ignored.  Their attitude on the subject usually depends on which side of the call they are sitting at.

I don't understand how they can expect it, if they don't give it when they are asked.

Trisha-I don't give much weight to giving or receiving feedback. As the listing agent, the best feedback is an offer since the terms and price are included. As the Buyer's agent, if the prospect does not think enough of home to make an offer, it was not in the ballpark. Maybe I'm just an Army of one, but the offer, or lack thereof, is feedback enough for me.

Trisha Bush, it is important to give and receive feedback. Sometimes this can help clear up any misunderstandings when clients pass on properties. For example, some units may need a new paint job or a deep cleaning.

Trisha, it usually takes a couple of emails and a phone call to get feedback.  Some agents are pretty good about it, but there are others apparently don't feel the need to respond to feedback requests.

Selllelrs love to receive feedback, however most agents do not really give particularly detailed feedback so it is not usually really all that helpful.  Often we just get something like "they prefered another home".
