What is the purpose of this picture?

Some people do not realize that just because you take a picture, you don't have to post it on the MLS.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for agents posting lots of good quality pictures.  Yet pictures like this one makes me wonder.... What am I looking at?  What is this room?  Is this supposed to be a good selling point?

Picture of basement

I think it is a room.....  Maybe the owners are really proud of the carpet and paint job?

Maybe the agent wanted to show buyers what is wrong to that room so there are no surprises?? Is this a basement maybe??

It could even be the inside of a cargo trailer.

I am not sure what room that is, but agree, a photo just to say you took a photo of all the rooms isn't always the best idea.

Photos of a property are only valuable if they clearly show what an area is. The example photo does not tell us anything. We need to be very deliberate in taking and posting photos.

Thanks for the post Sondra.

Sondra, No way would I add this photo to a listing on the MLS.

My first guess was a basement with the unfinished walls. What do I know about basements anyway as a Florida-Texas boy? A tornado shelter with an overhead light? Extra canned goods pantry for the Zombie invasion? A media room without the media? It is stunning what you find in the MLS. My favorites beyond the clutter in the houses is snow on the roof and the front lawn when searching for showings in the middle of the July heat. Kind of a long in the tooth on the market listing with that one.

Sondra~ What in the world is going on in the ceiling? I would never have posted this photo. I'd rather just post one of the front of the house if that's all that's worth showing!

Maybe that is the best they had to show which would be sad. Not showing your whole hand can be a marketing strategy.

Is this a climbing wall in the making? I couldn't tell you what this room is and unless there are comments in the MLS...I would be making a phone call.

Interesting shot, why would anyone put that picture anywhere, unless it was a contest to guess what that room is.  It looks to me like there is damage on the celing, LOL A
