Asheville “Boomers” are keeping that REALLY Nice Kitchen in an Intergenerational Community, Downsizing, and smiling. Of course! Asheville is a progressive place.
There is a strong voice for sustainable excellence here. You may discover a fondness for locally grown and harvested organic produce and sweet kitchens in small spaces, (see photo)
and living in a way that supports a gentle use of the land and community. As concerned real estate consultants, we are always on the lookout for thoughtful solutions.
Aging-in-Place in a Small Space (It’s Poetic!)
One idea comes from Andrew and Gabriella Morrison whose blog (and kitchen pictured here) we are excited about.
The couple has a plan for construction technology that is cost effective, healthy, energy efficient, and age-friendly home that embodies "simple, uncluttered, environmentally sane, affordable. Conscious living."
In terms of "downsizing" they suggest " moving towards living...with some fun, simple and easy downsizing techniques -Save Space.. By Creating A Paperless Office...Gratitude. Humility. Grace... and Getting Electricity From The Sun. "There is something miraculous about getting our electricity from the sun, " Gabriella says, " No utility bills. No inner guilt for tapping into the grid for power. Just good, clean, wholesome fun. For us going solar was a no brainer. "
