On a Saturday evening, I am working from home... Okay, okay, more or less working on my A-game. It is work to invest in oneself and to do the research for something worth while--but that is what I am hoping to accomplish for myself: to brush up on my SEO knowledge bank and be able to improve my skills. While on YouTube a little while ago, I came across some videos from Lisa Irby, an SEO and Business Blogger and Coach who has made some fairly noticeable videos on YouTube.
The following one struck so many chords with me, that I instantly thought of all you RainMakers out there who struggle to find an audience. I will admit, there are times when I don't have a strong audience myself, so reminders and coaching help keep me on track too! Even though this video was made a few years back, way before Hummingbird, and meant more for Google Adsense Creators/Partners, it still brings us back to the foundations of online success and gives us a reality check. Let it Rain abundant "a-ha" moments for you too!
Although I consider myself very knowledgeable when it comes to building a brand, marketing oneself, and setting a strong entrepreneurial path, SEO is something that I've learned to embrace, as I've gently incorporated some entrepreneurial concepts to blogging. Building a website and blogging are not enough to get out there and be noticed. It won't save or make your business unless you commit and are 100% cognizant of the business practices you will still need to employ.
Google wants to know that you are worth the traffic and worth ranking--this will be because your business is in the business of being helpful and knowledgeable and that your readers know it and come back to you.
I hope this helps! Feel free to re-blog and comment, letting me know your thoughts on these basics. What are some basic marketing practices you employ to your blogging?
Have a Rain-tastic rest of your weekends!
