Are social networks the search engines of the future?

I can’t find the info that I’m looking for on Google…now what!? As great as Google is, it is not perfect and there are plenty of topics that it won’t cover or the info given simply is not what you were after.

When this type of dilemma occurs more and more people are now turning to social networks to find their answers.  Not finding what you need in Google regarding the 1978 Red Sox? Search for the information on Twitter, someone has got to know the answer.  The collective knowledge of a social network is proving to be increasing valuable,   demonstrating their importance beyond the typical nonsensical banter that they are known for.

The combined human brainpower of these networks is filling in the gaps where sites like Google are lacking.  There are search engines like Mahalo (http://www.mahalo.com) which uses humans as the final determination for search results relevancy, however I believe the diversity and reach of the large social networks prove to be a better source.

This is the Wikipedia model and I believe the future of social networks and search marketing.  As a real estate professional be aware as to how people are getting to your site.  Optimizing social network relationships may be more important than search engines.
