Things Are Getting Curiouser and Curiouser And Make Me Go “Huh?”
In the last week or two, I’ve received phone calls from people who say they want my business.
I’m typically not too receptive to such phone calls and will quickly end a phone call with send me an email -- it’s really the best way to keep in touch with me. Quick, easy, no fuss, no muss.
Scenario One
A follow-up call of sorts from a lender who met me at an open house this year. She told me was impressed with the number of signs and the available information I had for visitors. We chatted briefly met briefly in my office. We even discussed ActiveRain. This was followed by no communication for a couple of weeks and then an email blast. She called and noticed I had an upcoming open house and asked if she could drop off cookies or balloons. I suggested she call at the end of week and we could coordinate. No call, no visit and darn it -- no cookies and no balloons -not that it matters - much.
Scenario Two
A phone call from a service who places my open house signs on street corners, picks them up after the event is over and then store them when not in use. I suggest, per usual, send me an email. I receive a follow-up call(that’s good) but still waiting for the email. Or a phone call. How much? Just tell me how much.
Scenario Three
While driving, I pull over and answer the phone. My photo and contact information on shopping carts. Ahh, yes. I have done this one. Biggest waste of money (for me) that I’ve ever spent in my career. But we have a better plan, he says. Call me later when I’m not driving or send me an email -- nada, zilch, nothing.
Why take the effort to contact me if you don’t follow up?
So with apologies to Lewis Carroll -- this thing we call life - it’s a mad tea party, isn’t it?
