The Highlands Ranch Metro District is offering free tree and limb recycling services to residents on Sunday, April 27 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. As the weather warms up and you’re sprucing up your yard for spring, please save your discarded tree branches and recycle them.

Tree limbs less than 12 inches in diameter and woody plant materials will be accepted at the recycling event. The following items will not be accepted: finished lumber, non-woody material, grass clippings, sod and root balls. In addition to tree recycling, free mulch will be available to Highlands Ranch residents.

The spring tree recycling event will take place at Redstone Park in the parking lot near Shea Stadium, at 3280 Redstone Park Cir., Highlands Ranch.

Tree recycling is part of the Metro District’s urban forestry program which recently received Tree City USA designation for the community for the 26th consecutive year. The Tree City USA designation is awarded by the National Arbor Day Foundation which recognizes communities for their commitment to suburban forestry.

To read about tree care tips or view a brief video on the proper way to prune your tree, visit the forestry page on the Metro District’s website at www.highlandsranch.org. The Metro District supports a thriving suburban forest through a variety of practices including maintaining the health of existing trees, fighting tree-related diseases, tree and limb recycling, a tree planting program and annual Arbor Day activities.
