In light of the many foreclosure that have happened over the last 5 years, The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) has introduced the Back to Work Program. Currently, there is a 3 year waiting period after a foreclosure on an FHA loan. If a prospective buyer can prove extenuating circumstances from past defaults and show recent financial recovery, the FHA will be willing to shorten the wait period for getting a home loan to as little as a year.
