Heed the warning is the advice that I give you when it comes to cleaning up your email box. On Friday I got the bright idea to work on my Gmail account and check out some of the features like Multiple Inboxes, Priority, Important, etc. stacked. I didn't like the way it looked, so for some reason I thought I could delete the messages from the separate boxes and they would still be in the labeled folders. So, when I checked the boxes next to each email, I was warned "Do you really want to do this?" I said yes and all of a sudden all my emails were gone and I couldn't find anything in the folders. Aghhh!
I looked for an Undo button to no avail. The Gmail Forum solution was to go to the Trash file and restore the emails. I had to restore all of them (over 14,000). This included the ones I wanted to keep and the ones that were in the trash. It took me from 11 am to 7 pm to go through and delete the ones I no longer needed, then Archive (move out of Inbox) the ones I wanted to keep. Fortunately, the labels weren't deleted so they are in the right folders.
I know have a clean Inbox, learned how to Hide labels until I want to see them and have recovered most of what I need. I also learned some cool tips from the Gmail folks on YouTube. It was a painful lesson to learn, but in the future, I will heed the warning.
