What has happened to Root Beer? Does anyone still drink it in Searcy AR?

Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Advantage

Here's a picture of A & W Root Beer which used to be located on East Race Street.

It was located where the big building that says "Lunch Box" is located now.

Somewhere underneath all that construction lurks the delightful little old food and drink place shown in this photograph found in a 1967 yearbook.

So tell me what happened to the Root Beer place?  Was it a chain?  Does anyone drink Root Beer anymore?

Hi Barbara ... we still drink root beer.  In fact I like it over vanilla ice cream ... it is so good.

I can tell you root beer is alive and well in California. My daughter keeps Hires in cans in the fridge all the time. There are a lot of specialty root beers that I enjoy.

Here are some to drool over.

Root Beers

Stewart's is one of my favorite. Notice how many look like regular beer bottles.

Barbara-A & W still has a few outlets here. But the last time I was in the taste was not as good as I recalled as a kid. Either my taste buds have changed a lot, or they're using some watered down concotion and just call it root beer.

Interesting comments from you, Wayne, Don, Judith and Mark.  Perhaps as kids the drink did taste much better.  I hope you all read the facebook comments on this blog where one of the readers told how they made the drink in the local A & W!  If not, go there and see what she said.
