Blood Moon April 15, 2014.....Spectacular
Last night the first of five lunar moon eclipses occurred and was spectacular. It was visible to spectators in North and South America.
I was outside at 11:40 pm PST to start taking pictures. Hope everyone got a chance to see it.
You can see it was getting totally dark after midnight but still had the red glow. The next Blood Moon will occur on October 8, 2014.
Lucky you! It started out fine at 11:30 pm here in Delaware when I could see a small bite taken out of the moon, but it got so cloudy after that and I couldn't see anything!

Great shots Kristin! I heard on the news last night it was the blood moon but never got to see it.
I think "according to the news anyway" tonight may even be better!

It is amazing how bright it showed up as when I was taking the pictures it was but going dark fast. I think the orange moon is amazing.

I have had that happen so many times. In the past I would set my clock at 4:00 am to watch meteor showers or full moons and get outside to find it all covered in fog. But luckily it was perfect last night.

I love to watch the lunar phases and I think this is the second time I have seen a Blood Moon. They do not come around too often but we are lucky as their are 4 more blood moons in the next year and a half.

It is probably more important to get a good nights sleep vs. staying up to take a moon shot. I was working late so it was not too much trouble to grab my camera and run outside. Should have set up my tripod to get an even better shot.
