You're right Roy. Debbie has a BIG framed photo of her Great, Great Grandfather. The picture gave her the creeps so it's in a closet facing the wall.

Hello Roy, I agree, we have a photo of my great grand parents that goes to the oldest person in the family then it is past on to the next oldest.

Roy ...I wish when I was young I had kept a lot of the photos that were laying around my grandmothers home.
Very nice post!
Have a great night!
You are right Roy... family photos should be treasured and certainly not thrown away.

What a great old time photo. This has not been a problem for me with the discarding, I am a natural pack rat.

Roy,
What a wonderful keepsake I love looking at old pictures knowing where I came from! Thanks for sharing with us!
Thanks so much for your comments. Keep those family photographs in a safe place to pass on to the next generations.
Amazing picture, Roy. I wish my parents had listened to your advice. I have very few old photos of my family.
What a precious photo to have. I also very much treasure things of this nature. Thanks for sharing!

Wonderful photo, Roy. You know, when I see family homes destroyed in the wake of wild fires, earthquakes, mudslides, tornadoes, hurricanes, explosions and such, I feel so sorry for the people. Usally survivors tell us they are OK because they still have each other. However, one main thought I have is - they lost a treasure; they lost their photographs. How sad.
I often wish that there would be a central place for found photos - where people could check in just to see. Last year there was a very destructive tornadoe that leveled several southern Illinois communities. I read in the paper the following week that a gentleman 2 miles down the road found a framed 8 X 10 picture of a woman and wanted to find the owner. It happened to be a framed picture and the only photo a woman living in one of the leveled communities had of her Mother who was deceased. It was a beautiful story and captured in our local papers.
