The site across the street from the Virginia Square metro stop , along Fairfax Drive, in Arlington VA, where Bank of America, the Tax Accountants and Dance Factory were located, wondering what is going to happen to the site?

Virginia Square Development Site

In a recent Washington Business Journal Article, the Penrose Group is planning on breaking ground on the site in June to construct two new apartment buildings.  The new buildings are going to be called Latitude apartments.  Arlington County Board approved the project in November and Bank of America shortly thereafter closed that branch location.  The buildings have been sitting vacant for months.

The 12-story Latitude is scheduled to include 265 apartments and about 5,900 square feet of retail and cultural space.  The building completion is slated for occupancy in late 2016 or early 2017. It will be interesting to see what kind of tenants will occupy the retail space, especially with the other two new apartment buildings a block away on Fairfax Drive also having large retail spaces for lease.  Virginia Square could use some more restaurants, though Water and Wall opened in November, there is still a lack of places to eat within a couple blocks of the Virginia Square metro.
