Video isn't just for agents: it's also a helpful tool for allied real estate professionals. I've already posted about how home inspectors and mortgage professionals can use video to attract and retain customers. This month, I'm spotlighting stagers. If you're a professional stager, here are some ways you can use video to grow your business.
Introduce yourself. A little video greeting or bio is always a great way to introduce yourself to customers. Share something interesting that brings out your personality: how you got into staging, what makes you a great stager, or your favorite staging challenge.
Create professional distance. A client's home and the way they've decorated it are deeply personal matters, which is why so many people get defensive when presented with staging suggestions. Instead of trying to work with clients in their living rooms, where they may feel attacked in their sanctuary, consider filming a video and going over it together in your office. That may create enough distance to make clients more receptive to your recommendations.
Educate clients. Sometimes it's hard for clients to picture the difference staging will make. Video is a great way to prod their imaginations by showing them real-world examples of effective staging. You can use videos from your own projects, or get with a friendly real estate agent to gather videos of homes where staging contributed to a fast or lucrative sale.
Build Your Portfolio. Folders and fliers are nice, but nothing beats video for dramatic impact. Build a library of before-and-after videos of your projects to help you recruit new clients. You can post them on your website, display them at trade shows, send them out to real estate agents and other referring partners, or take them with you when visiting potential clients. Bonus points if you hire an editor to string several videos together into one compelling presentation.
How would you use video to build a home staging business?
