Beachside Boil Water Alert Will Hopefully Be Lifted Tomorrow

We have been under a boil water alert since Tuesday in Satellite Beach and the surrounding areas from Pineda Causeway to Eau Gallie Causeway.  Apparently a fire hydrant replacement went awry and a water main “erupted” and contaminated the drinking water of about 12,000 homes and businesses.  The full story is here

Personally this had been a huge hassle. On Tuesday when it first happened we had really low water pressure but no one knew why. I had been out at a friends house for dinner and was informed of the low pressure, when I got home, but we didn't know we had to boil the water. We thought we just had to wait a while getting water from the fridge or faucet.  Then we had no water at all. I got a text from my sister in law asking if we knew we were on a boil water alert. I told her no and thanked her, for letting us know. I looked it up on line and saw what happened and that the alert would continue until Friday, when they would test the water and hopefully say it was ok.

I have been boiling water for washing dishes and for the dogs and the plants.  I have been boiling a lot of water.  It's getting pretty old.  I am really hoping the alert is lifted tomorrow.

Cathy, I bet you are happy things are back to normal today. We were not affected at all so I can only imagine what it has been like for you. I cannot believe you boiled water to wash dishes...paper plates and cups and plasticware are what I would have used... :)

Diana, that's funny. I didn't even think about using plastic utensils. I wish I had of though. I was very relieved when it was over.
