The Bears Are Waking Up

I would never have thought about bird feeders needing to be empty. What about picinic baskets? LOL. Hava a great Easter.

great post. We've had bears in our neighborhood in the past.

Debbie good advice.  I suppose I won't see one, no bird feeders or garbage cans outside :)

So far we do not have any bears. Do not mind as I do not like bears and even less since I saw the video on the woman attacked who needed all those stitches. That was horrible. You can still see the fear in her eyes as she recalls the attack.

I know we have bears in our neighborhood, but haven't actually seen them for a few years - 2007 to be specific. It was late in a really dry summer. They came down to our neighbor's apple trees.

I had an Arab gelding who was terrified of them so every now and then we'd be going down the road and do a sudden about face if he caught a whiff.

Once it was a cub. I was trying to go home and the horse refused to go past a certain point. I kept saying yes and he kept saying no. Then suddenly a cub ran across the road in front of us and up the hill, where it sat down to watch us.

THEN the horse was willing to come home.

Good Morning Debra: Bears look very huggable and harmless. Unfortunately, looks can be deceiving, right?

Hi Debra-we're seeing on the news in some of our cities closer to the wooded areas have reported numerous bear encounters. 

There needs to be a sign posted "No bears allowed". Problem is, it is hard to find an enforcer.

Great to see nature in all its splendor! Hopefully these bears can live and exist around their human intruders.

Debbie, we have alot of wild life here too, and alot of Bears. Be safe, and remind those that may be new to your area to keep their distance for sure and not feed them. Be safe. Have a great weekend!

I guess we are fortunate here not to have bears. They used to be quite a few before Napa Valley was settled. Now I believe there are none, at least know about. cheers cvc

Debbie, glad I don't have to deal with bears.  We do have wild boar in the area, but I've been fortunate not to be confronted by one.  

Had an almost close brush with bears while camping & hiking with Boy Scouts in New Mexico. One group didn't tie their food up high enuff and a bear got it. We all donated food to them. A few years ago, I saw photos of what a bear did to a sleeping camper near there. If I'd seen it BEFORE the trip....

Google "bear attacks Lake Mary FL" and you'll be surprised how active the bear situation is in this upscale area of Central Florida.
