Craigslist: Cleaning up after Real Estate Agent Abuse. Finally!

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Realty Arts NC Broker License #235526

"Each real estate for sale posting must be 100% about a single, specific, currently available property.

Lead capture, loans/financing, services, offers to buy, lists/directories, and/or driving users to a website are not allowed.

  • please do include:
    • all relevant information about the specific property you are selling
    • multiple high-quality photographs of the specific property on offer
    • street address, and location on craigslist map
  • please do NOT include:
    • cartoon or graphic images, photographs of yourself or other people
    • links to "more information" elsewhere
    • photos with "click below," contact info, or other writing
    • search links, or information about multiple properties
    • advertisement for services of any kind, including financing or loan information
    • advice about buying and/or selling and/or market conditions

I will abide by these guidelines "

What's not to love!  Now ethical agents can hope to resume use of Craigslist Housing Listings, By Broker, for actually advertising houses for sale.
The new guidelines are a long overdue adjustment from Craigslist to protect the site from abuse and improve CL functionality for consumers.

And, I just saw about 30 ads that broke the rules above, ads which could not have been posted without the agents' agreement to abide by the rules.  Unfortunate, to say the least.  "Ethics," anyone?
Prediction:  Further abuse will have us paying money to advertise houses by broker on CL.

Actually, some agents will always figure a way to get around the rules.  It's about survival.  You have agents, offering potential buyers anything in order to get their listing, lower fees etc.
