My First Deal

Oh, the first deal you do in Real Estate!  Everybody remembers.  It’s always is a story right?  Oh yes, it usually is a story.  Sometimes, people get homeruns and it all works out wonderfully and you’re amazed but for most people it’s a bit of an adventure!

In our case, our fist deal was I bought a rental property.  And when I went to buy this property, I had the privilege of getting the hard money then.  While this was not a big deal there were some new waters and territory to walk through as I put this deal together being that this was all new to me.  In retrospect, all the numbers were good but at that time I was a bit of stereo then, it seemed.  In any case the day of closing, I happen to have a cold and while we were buying a foreclosure from the bank and it turns out that my chest got really stiff just from congestion. And I got a little bit scary because it was really tight so I ended up going to the hospital just to make sure that something crazy wasn’t developing. It turns out that it was nothing more than just heavy congestion but it was a little bit scary.  And as a result, we have to postpone the closing, until Monday. And what was interesting was everybody freaked out and thought “Oh my gosh, our Buyer is dying!” Well, I wasn’t actually dying, I was just a little concerned because I was just stuffed here than normal whenever I have a cold. And it just turned out that I have been around a few sickly people so I guess I got a pretty good.   However it was very entertaining in a weird kind of way all the wonderful attention I got and I did not expect for a trip to ER for a couple of hours.

Anyway, the property did close the following Monday and everybody was very gracious and kind and we still own the property until today.  And it worked out wonderfully as a rental property for us.  That’s my story.

Frank, I can see how that would cause people to think they might "lose" the buyer. Glad you were okay and it all worked out well.

Yes, Kathleen  and thank you for reading my blog. Wishing you a great week ahead! You have more blogs to read I am sure and it's gonna be a tough decision. And by the way, I agree with your mom's wise words, "It's not about whether you win or lose, it's about how you play the game."

Well, that's a delay I haven't experienced yet. But if you're in the business long enough, I'm sure we'll see pretty much everything. Thanks for entering the April Contest!
