Are you YouTubing?

YouTube

YouTube has quickly become much more than just a place for High School Speed Stacking clips, American Idol auditions filmed in a backyard and other random personal video clips. You may already know this but many companies use YouTube as a distribution channel for their content and commercials. Large corporations are creating great content specifically for YouTube, understanding the viral nature of the phenomenon.

So this poses the question…how are you using YouTube as a marketing channel? For Real Estate agents creating a quick 30 second video of one of your premium listings with a simple voiceover explaining the property is all it takes. Getting the content on YouTube is super simple and takes only a couple of minutes. Oh yeah, it’s also free! For those daring and creative enough, try adding an entertainment element to your clips. It is more likely to be virally distributed and users may look for more content created by you.

Millions are searching for video content on YouTube, and not just for South Park clips. Yes, Real Estate is locally based, but for those of you working in high populous areas (actually even in smaller cities/towns) leveraging a mass medium like YouTube is likely to pay dividends in the long run.

I have 3 videos on youtube and I've gotten pretty good responses to all of them.  My initial goal was to use them for my personal marketing.  This has given me some great ideas.  Thanks!!!

Social media has many different vehicles. This just happens to be one of them. It has some applications which can be useful. I've seen some great clips on it - just never used it myself.

Have 125 videos on You Tube and lots of other video uplink options too.  Over 17,000 views in short time posted. Consider that each video can be linked on your propaganda that goes out to customers, its not hosted on your site so site is not getting slowed down bandwidth wise. And don't just think of property being posted...think of local 4th parades, high school state championship basketball, hockey, etc games where you get footage montage of local band, the crowd of local folks, the team, and the in essence spirit of your community.  Have hockey games with 550 viewers within days of posted each...you link them to all the sites you use for SEO...jump in and get your feet wet. What are you waiting for? We even have local youth working the potato harvest and learning work ethic...some customer wanting a safe place to raise kids with work ethic, good schools, etc, would embrace this video...especially if no one else is doing it in other towns they are shopping. Podcasts good idea to....just take along you digital recorder. Parents, grandparents and out of town folks watch there son or daughter in a game...just think where that can lead !

I am trying to catch up with tech. I have been reading about podcasting for over 2 years now. I just don't know what camcorder to buy or how to upload it. My younger kids are only interested in my-space so they can't help me out. Where do you start? Help me ! I am from the last century (thats what my kids say to me)

Grab yourself a digital audio recorder...you can buy them for under $50 and don't need stereo or other gadgets on it. There are many podcast platforms to utilize for free and I've had success with Switch Pod and they easily walk you thru it if your kids are not going to help guide you! Good luck!

Hi Windy- Andrew makes some great suggestion on the audio recorders for podcasts, they are pretty cheap and it it easy to set up.  I agree Switch Pod is great.  You can get it here:  http://www.switchpod.com/

In terms of video you can really get any camcorder that will allow you transpose the video to digital files, most do these days.  For ease of use and quality the DigiLife All-In-One Camcorder is great for YouTube or really any video that you would like to easily post online. Here is a link to it on Amazon.

In terms of uploading to YouTube, they have made the process pretty simple.  There is a yellow upload button on the front page that quickly walks ou through the steps of getting your video online.  You will have to register for an account first, again this is pretty straight forward and all of it is free.
